BIBLICAL FACT ABOUT. ASTROLOGY
FROM PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME PhD, Dsc, DD
What is astrology? Maybe that’s where we should
start. I’ll read a verse of scripture that classifies
astrology along with certain other things, and that’ll
begin to give you an idea and then you’ll get a good
understanding.
Isaiah 47:13, “Thou are wearied in the multitude of
thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers,
the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee
from these things that shall come upon thee.”You
know, the Lord had said there was going to be
judgment for these people, and then He says now,
“you let the astrologers save you, let the astrologers,
the stargazers and the monthly prognosticators save
you.” Notice, He grouped them together: the
astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly
prognosticators. What does this mean? The
astrologers are those who study the arrangements of
the celestial bodies (the various planets, the sun, the
moon and all of these) and they try to understand,
through observation, the positioning of these things
[the movement and positioning of these planets] and
then they interpret the future or they foretell future
events in human lives. And, in this way, they actually
rob you of your relationship with the Spirit of God,
because your life is not controlled by the planetary
arrangements. Your life is in the hand of God. God
said to the children of Israel, “I am your God; your
future belongs to Me.” So, He gave them prophets to
bring them revelation through the Holy Spirit and
through His word, and that’s what God wants us to do.
He doesn’t want us to try to look into the future by
studying the planetary arrangements. The same thing
with stargazers: they look at the stars, the
arrangement of the stars and things that are
happening to the position of the stars, and then they
seek to tell you what your future holds and events in
